MHI Group Delivers Two Large-Capacity Centrifugal Chillers for Singapore’s Marina Bay District Cooling System

TOKYO, Oct 4, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group companies - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd. (MHI Thermal Systems) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MHI-AP) - have jointly delivered two large-capacity centrifugal chillers for a large-scale district cooling system in Singapore's Marina Bay as part of plans to expand the system. The two chillers, offerings in the "GART series", have a collective cooling capacity of 8,400 refrigeration tons (RT). and will bring the total number of centrifugal chillers provided by MHI Group to the Marina Bay area to 18.The GART-400PLS.SCF model centrifugal chillers each have a cooling capacity of 4,200 RT, the largest capacity of all units delivered to the Marina Bay district cooling system to date. The new units can accommodate the HFO-1234ze(E) refrigerant, which is recognized for its extremely low environmental impact: a global warming potential (GWP) below 1(Note1). In addition, the GART-400PLS.SCF chillers have a near 6% higher rated coefficient of performance (COP)(Note2) and approximately 10% higher integrated part load value (IPLV)(Note3) than earlier models,...

MHI Thermal Systems to Launch New Series of Large-Capacity Centrifugal Chillers Adopting Low-GWP Refrigerant

TOKYO, Apr 5, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - In June, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd., a Group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), will launch a new series of large-capacity centrifugal chillers adopting the CFC-free(1) HFO-1234yf refrigerant having extremely low environmental impact: zero ozone depletion and a GWP(2) below 1. The series will have two models: the constant-speed JHT-Y and the inverter-equipped JHT-YI.JHT - Y/JHT-YI seriesBoth new models feature capacities ranging from 300 to 5,400 refrigeration tons (RT)(3), with the maximum capacity representing a 400 RT increase over the "GART-ZE/ZEI" series launched in 2017. The JHT-Y and JHT-YI are the first centrifugal chillers with capacities up to 5,400 RT offered commercially in Japan to feature a low-GWP refrigerant. Together with the "ETI-Z" series of centrifugal chillers in the small-to-medium capacity range launched in 2015, MHI Thermal Systems will now offer a full lineup of low-GWP refrigerant models in variations spanning from 150 to 5,400 RT.The new series also adopts an all-new type of compressor. Increasing the variety of models enables selection of the optimal compresso...
