Hitachi Energy selected to help bring almost 50 percent more power to 20 million people in India

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, Jul 22, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - Hitachi Energy, a market and technology leader in transmission, distribution and grid automation solutions, today announced it has won a major order from Adani Electricity Mumbai Infra Limited, part of India's largest privately-owned power company Adani, to provide a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system which will link Kudus to Mumbai, on India's west coast.Mumbai is experiencing a rapid increase in electricity consumption, seeing peak demand increasing to 3,850 megawatts (MW) in 2022, of which around 2,100 MW was supplied from outside sources(1). The new HVDC link will supply up to 1,000 MW of electricity, increasing power from outside of the city by almost 50 percent. The link will strengthen the existing transmission infrastructure and help Adani to ensure a reliable power supply in the region.Globally, power loads in cities are increasing, especially in densely populated areas where land is already scarce, and difficulties can arise whenever new right-of-way must be secured for traditional transmission lines. HVDC technology enables large amounts of high-quality electricity to be delivered ...

Milestone of THz Communication

TOKYO, Jun 29, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - Scientists from a project coordinated by Technische Universitat Braunschweig in Germany and Waseda University in Japan with ten other partners from five countries have succeeded for the first time worldwide in developing a bidirectional THz radio link that can be connected as a "backhaul" to the data network of mobile radio providers. This link achieved by the Horizon Europe-funded new windowThoR project, can realise high data rates and thus play an important role in the network infrastructure of the future. On 29 and 30 June, the THz radio link will be presented in a final workshop of the ThoR project. The Braunschweig radio relay link connects the Oker Tower with TU Braunschweig's IT Centre over a distance of 160 metres. Credits: Thomas Kürner/ TU BraunschweigFibre-optic cables are not always the best option when it comes to transmitting data. Especially in cities, it is often not possible to connect every base station of the mobile network by cable. Radio relay links provide an alternative solution. With the help of antennas mounted on roofs, they can bridge distances of up to one kilometre. This creates important backhaul...

S.id, Combination of Link Shortener and Microsite in One Platform, Ready to Launch

JAKARTA, Jun 14, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - A link shortening platform or a link shortener called S.id officially launched its newest feature, microsite, in mid-April 2022. This feature will make it easier for users, especially content creators or online businesses, to promote their service products through social media links. For example, Instagram and Tiktok.Ruby Alamsyah, President Director of PT. Aidi Digital Global (PT ADG), the developer of the S.id platform, said the addition of features on the S.id platform aims to make it easier for users to support digital marketing needs."Currently, if we want to make a link shortener and bio link, we have to use two platforms. However, the addition of the microsite feature on S.id makes users only need to use one platform. As a result, it is easier and more practical to use for marketing tools," Ruby said. The features that can be enjoyed using the microsite on S.id include several attractive themes and creating unique microsite names and links; several components can be included: text, links, images, videos, and horizontal links (links). social media) and can also view statistics on the progress of microsite links, such a...

Nine contracts worth $320 million awarded for Singapore-Johor RTS Link systems

SINGAPORE - Nine contracts worth about RM1 billion (S$321.7 million) have been awarded for system works for the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, said the rail link's operator - RTS Operations (RTSO). In an update on Wednesday (May 12), the operator, a joint venture between Singapore rail operator SMRT and Malaysian public transport firm Prasarana, said these system works are "progressing well". It did not specify when these contracts were awarded. Four of the contracts were for core systems, with Chinese firm CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive taking charge of the rail link's rolling stock and the Malaysian subsidiary of Siemens Mobility handling the signalling system and platform screen doors. Another Malaysian firm, Sapura Rail Systems, was awarded contracts to set up the communications system and the integrated supervisory control system. The remaining five contracts are for track work, power supply systems, depot equipment and service vehicles, as well as an automatic fare collection system. RTSO said it had earlier awarded a systems consultancy contract for the design, manufacturing, delivery, testing and commissioning of all systems for the RTS Link, which will conn...

Elastomers develop stronger bonds of attachment

Tsukuba, Japan, Feb 12, 2021 - (ACN Newswire) - Elastomers are the soft, elastic materials, like gels and rubbers, that are found in automobile and airplane parts, in sports equipment, and are used to protect precision machinery and buildings against vibrations. Scientists now want to make them thinner and tougher, without losing elasticity. Nagoya University materials engineer Yukikazu Takeoka and colleagues reviewed the most recent efforts towards improving elastomers for the journal Science and Technology of Advanced Materials.Different kinds of bonds can link elastomer chains together, changing how the material behaves. (Credit: Yukikazu Takeoka)"Our review gives hints about the kind of molecular thinking that needs to go into making elastomers tougher," says Takeoka.Elastomers are made of many, long molecular chains of repeating subunits. They can undergo large deformations when stretched, returning to their original shape when the tension is released. They can do this because their molecular chains have enough mobility to stretch and crunch up.Elasticity and overall toughness depends on the interactions between the molecular chains inside the material. Scientists have been wo...
